Attar is an oil-based, alcohol-free perfume made using a centuries-old Indian distillation tradition. Flowers, herbs and spices are slowly heated in copper stills, and their aromatic essence is captured in oil. Each small batch is hand-crafted, making Mooshq perfume oils intimate, long-lasting and rooted in heritage.
Unlike alcohol-based perfumes that project strongly and fade quickly, Mooshq perfume oils are designed to linger softly close to the skin. Our attar perfumes are alcohol-free, oil-based and hand-crafted in small batches, making them more intimate, longer-lasting and gentler on the skin.
Because our perfumes are oil-based and alcohol-free, they last longer on the skin than traditional alcohol-based fragrances. While longevity may vary by skin type, you can expect your scent to linger softly through out the day.
The short answer is - No. While traditional Indian attars are not free of alcohol, parabens and paraffin, they aren't necessarily all-natural. Attars are concentrated perfume oils that have been crafted for centuries as fragrance blends, which may include both natural and fragrance ingredients. This is what gives attars their characteristic complexity and longevity. Our attar's are formulated using both natural and fragrance ingredients.
If you have known fragrance sensitivities or allergies, we recommend reviewing our ingredient list (found in the ingredients section on this page) before purchasing. Our attars are fragrance oil blends that may contain ingredients not suited for those with allergies and sensitivities.

Your safety and comfort are important to us - when in doubt, patch test first or consult with a healthcare professional if you have severe sensitivities.
We work with high-quality ingredients and use an alcohol-free, oil-based base. However, if you have sensitive skin, please perform a patch test before use and discontinue immediately in the unlikely event that irritation occurs.
Dab a small amount onto pulse points like behind the ears and on the wrists. Allow it to settle on the skin without rubbing, so the fragrance develops naturally and lasts longer. Our perfume oils are highly concentrated, so only a little is needed.

If you decide to return your full-size 10ml or 5ml perfume oil, you may do so within 7 days of delivery, provided it’s unopened and unused. Discovery Ritual sets and 2ml vials are final sale and can only be returned if faulty.

Attar is an oil-based, alcohol-free perfume created using a centuries-old Indian distillation method. In Kannauj, India’s perfume capital, artisans use the traditional deg-bhapka process, heating botanicals in copper stills over wood fire and capturing the aromatic steam in oil.
